Rehabilitation

Strengthen muscles and soft tissues.
Your overall health is always impacted when muscles, tendons, or ligaments of the spine are damaged, whether through work injuries, automobile collisions, overexertion, repetitive motion, or because of prolonged inactivity. Without proper tone, in the muscles, tendons, and ligaments of your body, you are much more at risk for having a musculoskeletal injury occur.

Active care for a more complete recovery Without active care or rehabilitation care of any kind, recovery from an injury or a long-standing spinal problem can take considerably longer to achieve. Overlooking the importance of improving range of motion and muscle strengthening can result in a recurrence of your original health problem and each relapse may have the potential to be more serious injury situation than the prior ones.

An important step towards complete rehabilitation is restoring proper spinal function through chiropractic adjustments in addition to using the appropriate exercises to improve both strength and range of motion.

Chiropractic rehabilitation involves the restoration of the biomechanics of either the spine or extremities, and the strengthening of supporting muscles and soft tissues. This generally involves spinal adjustments (to improve motion and function of the joints), combined with a program of stretching, resistance training, and exercises to improve muscle tone and strength.

Some patients receive a set of simple exercises or “maneuvers” they can do at home. Other types of injuries will require the use of specialized equipment to isolate and strengthen specific areas of the spine.

Ask your chiropractic doctor for ways you can speed the healing process and strengthen the supporting soft tissues of your spine through appropriate rehabilitation.
